Here is a short video that shows how to play weMakeWords:
Up to four children work together to rescue animals, that escaped the zoo.
In order to do so they combine symbol-fragments called strokes into chinese words (symbols).
They help each other by sending strokes that don’t fit their own words to their peers who can use them to complete their symbols.
In addition to a chinese version a german and english version now exist, too.
When we developed weMakeWords at TUM in cooperation with Dr. Pohl’s Child Psychology Garmisch we had those goals in mind:
- For children ages 4–8
- Adaptive to the learning situation and development of the child
- Cooperative, not competitive multiplayer
- Educational yet fun.
- On Apple’s increasingly popular iOS platform.
